What is a mini implant?

A mini implant is a smaller and thinner  titanium implant than a traditional one , which is used to secure a removable denture. Usually, 4 implants are needed in the lower jaw and 6 in the upper jaw to achieve adequate stability. The implants are fitted into the bone with a screw and end in a so-called ball head.

The immobility of the prosthesis is ensured by the connection between the ball head and the rubber ring fixed to the teeth: thanks to this technology, the denture  fits like a patent  and no longer wobbles or slides.

The procedure is performed with the utmost care, but you don’t have to be prepared for lengthy discomfort: the implantation is usually completed in one hour.

Not necessarily! We always examine the condition of your existing prosthesis. If the denture is suitable, we attach snaps that fit the ball heads of the implants.

The oral hygiene routine usually consists of the following:

  • The dentures should be brushed every morning and evening, after meals, and cleaned thoroughly with a hard-bristled toothbrush and toothpaste.
  • The neck of the implants should always be cleaned with an interdental brush to a shiny metallic color,
  • The rubber rings should also be treated once a week with white petroleum jelly, available at pharmacies.
